Stuart Haygarth collects man made objects along the english coast. He then takes photos of them in colour coordination and order. These pictures have an aesthetic appeal, but also show the tale of our reckless pollution of our planet.
My work trying to replicate Stuart Haygarth
WWW: I picked out a good selection of objects with these selective colours.
EBI: I could have took more photos of more colours and more imaginative objects. I also could have gotten a better composition as i didn't persevere with it. I should have taken the photos from above.

www and ebi. A shame you didn't persevere with the composition, take more care with lighting or photograph from above.
Form over Function:
Andre KerteszAndre Kertesz is a Hungarian photographer who takes photos of domestic objects in a simple form. He created a very famous photo called 'The Fork' which was a photo of a fork with a shadow underneath. He was following the Dada movement which was why all of his photos were very simple. He focused on the composition of the photograph emphasising the fork's geometry and form. The fork becomes more than just a domestic object. Kertesz believed photography should reveal the real nature of things. While in Paris, Kertesz felt like an outsider. Kertesz expressed this loneliness through the subjects of his photogrpahs. He was able to combined formal composition with an emotive charge. Henri Cartier Bresso said "Each time Kertesz's shutter clicks I hear his heart beating".

My attempts at his work.
My edit:
I followed the artists work as well as choosing good lighting and finding good composition as well as having good aperture meaning the photos are perfectly lit.
WWW: I shone my light so that the shadows were shining away from the forks. Furthermore, I hid the last fork so the three shadows that appear looks like it is coming from two forks. I used good exposure as well as good focus.
EBI: In some of the photos I took they were too complicated meaning that they did not follow Andre Kertesz influence properly.

Andre Kertesz part2 attempt
What did you learn from the first set that informed the second set?
I learnt to not make the photo too complicated.

WWW: To edit this is made it black and white to get rid of the grimy yellowish light coming from the torch. I also cropped the image to make the image have less open space.
EBI: I could have not made it so complicated and taken simpler photos and follow Andre Kertesz lead.

Ordinary to Extraordinary
Edward Weston:
Edward Weston used a Graphlex 4x5 version. The benefit of using this type of camera meant that he could see the subject matter when taking photos. Westons philosophy about photography was to bring beauty to normal objects as well as make his own photography language. While taking his most famous photo 'The Pepper' he wanted a bigger depth of field the problem that happened was that his camera only went up to F64 meaning that he couldn't get a high enough depth of field. The exposure he used was F240 which he had to make and was the size of a pin-prick. It took from 4 to 6 hours to take the photo. The long exposure had the affect of making the image look luminous.

My Response
In this task I was required to take photos following the influence of photographer Eduard Weston. I did this through taking pictures of fruits and vegetables on a black or white background using the sunlight for natural shadows and lighting. I then change my best photos into black and white and change my

WWW:I took a lot of photos of fruits to represent Weston's work and to show what I can do when given an artist to copy.
EBI: I could have thought more about the photos that I took and get better angles as well as a better shadow from the sunlight.
Artificial light
In this task I was required to take photos of natural objets using artificial lights coming from a very bright torch. This task leads to the theme of ordinary to extraordinary as the natural objects which everyone sees everyday is a curved and distorted object.

Suzanne Saroff
Suzanne Saroff creates fractured images of common foods through vessels filled with water and glass objects.
The images play with concepts of light and shadow resulting in distorted still life that appear almost like digital glitches.

WWW: I followed the artists intent by using an all black background and a jug of water with a skull behind it. I refracted the light using water leaving the skull looking like it is not shaped in a regular way.
EBI: I could have cropped some of the images better as well as not making it so complicated with the flower in the jug.

WWW: I took photos following the photographers work and example. I managed to get some interesting composition using the water bend the light.
EBI: I could have cropped the image a bit better to not get any weird background objects in the image. Furthermore, I could have taken more images to have more examples of Suzanna's work.

David Hockney
David Hockney was involved in the pop art movement. In this movement people were involved in popular culture such as comics and real life rather than abstract art which was not real life. Hockney created photojoiners which were a collage of loads of photos put together. David Hockney said that it was drawing with photos. David took inspiration from Pablo Picsoo's cubist ideas, he tried to make it realist, bringing you closer to the image and not pushing you away and giving an image have lots of angles bringing a 3D effect to it which you wouldn't get from other images.

My attempt at his work
How I did this task. Firstly, I took three photos for each layer without moving a muscle or else the image would come out weirdly. Then I went into photoshop and collaged all of the images together using the photomerge tool.
WWW: I did not move that much when taking the photos meaning that I could place all of the images together easily.
EBI: I could have changed the images location in the image and moved them together so they fit better together. I also could have cropped the image better in photoshop.

WWW: I followed the artists influence and had good composition. In photoshop I combined all the images together and changed the composition of some of them so that they all looked relatively similar.
EBI: I could have put the photos together in a less harsh way so that they blend better. I could have finished by changing the contrast and brightness of each one.

Eating sequence
The aim of this task was to make an eating sequence. This is done by taking bites out of a confectionary item and taking photos at every stage. After this you would have to go onto photoshop and make the background of the image white. This is done through the crop tool as well as the quick selection tool. I then placed every single one of these photos into a white background which was A4 size. After this I felt like I had done enough before starting to do my GIF. For the GIF I had to put all my files into a stack and then reverse the order they were in. However, they were too fast so I had to slow it down to a 0.2 second interval between each image. After this I was FINISHED!
WWW: I set up my shot well in a well lit location where there are barely any shadows.
EBI: I could have made the person eating it make smaller bites so that I would have more photos for the GIF.

Light and Focus
Ute Barth
In this project, we covered Uta Barth and her ideas of bringing to attention how we see the world around us. Her pictures often depend on things like shadows, light and even the effect of the wind, but often bringing in techniques like taking pictures out of focus.
Her photographs include simple things , and often very plain.
Barth is considering the viewing of the modern audience on pictures, only focusing on subject, such as landscape.
